I was a dealer for the 2008 WSOP and was told back in July once we were finished we would have another check coming after the final table which was last week. Today I just contacted someone at payroll at the Rio and she hasn't heard of checks being cut for the WSOP dealers and couldn't point me to anyone that would know. So heres my questions and perspectives and maybe someone on the site can help shead a little light on the subject for me...

Did anyone at the final table tip? How were the dealers paid that got to deal the final table? If their pay came from the main event downs, how was that calculated?

I would assume this is how it would work (or should)...We got paid for our main event downs back in July, but something had to be withheld, pretty much the same way it was for the final 9 players how they were each paid 9th place money, then given the difference depending on how they moved up the ladder last week...So what I would think is that money had to be with held to compensate the final table dealers...then after the final table was over and after the final table tips came in, if there were any, another down value would have to be recalculated and paid to each of us that dealt...this is my first year being a WSOP dealer, but from what i heard the main event downs were alot lower this year than last year...

Does anyone have any information regarding this or could someone point me in the right direction. I currently live and work in Vegas and will continue to do research and post my findings here and I encourage anyone else out there to do the same...

I will post the answer shortly.
Thank you very much, I appreciate it.
You need to talk to Jack Effel. He works at the Rio and yo find him at the poker room on day shift. Personally I doubt anyone wil see any money. Let us know if you found something out. :) good luck.
I know one of the final table dealers very well and she said that we were all getting a check in the mail.
thanks for all the responses. im going to continue to do a little research out here with some people that i know. im just getting sick of everyone laughing and saying that we are all going to get screwed on this when i mention it. if anyone else heres something keep posting
As of today, the Accounting Department now has the ball and checks will be cut and sent out as soon as they verify the figures.

I heard today that the additional toke checks will be just over $1.50 per down in the main event. The players left somewhere in the $85,000.00 range which would mean we had about 39,667 downs in the main event. I came up with that number by multiplying $85,000.00 by .70 which leaves $59,500.00 for the dealers (remember the floor staff gets 30% or at least I think they also get that on tokes just like they do on the % that is withheld from each event for staff) then divided that number by 1.5 (the amount we are getting per down). At first I thought almost 40,000 downs sounded way too high but once I divided that by 800 (an estimate of the # of dealers that remained when we got to the main event although it didn't seem like we had that many) which would work out to about 50 downs per dealer (that number seems low since I dealt 60 + downs in the main event, so maybe the floor staff does not get 30% of the tokes). Anyway I hope this explains how I came up with these numbers.

Also it is my understanding that checks will be mailed to your last known address, so if since the series you have moved (or changed bank accounts for those with direct deposit), that should be the only reason you would need to contact payroll or accounting. Calling and asking is only going to delay things, not get it to you any faster. The best thing to do is just sit back and relax, remember this is found money (remember we got the bulk of our toke check at the end of the event) so be happy that we are getting something EXTRA. Final tables in the past couple of years have not been as generous.

And I hope the math above gives everybody an idea of just what a huge undertaking that the WSOP really is. Honestly how many of you would have guessed that we would deal almost 40,000 downs in one event?

p.s. Anyone who complains that this is not enough and feels insulted by such a small amount please email me and I will give you my bank account number and you can deposit your check in my account. I promise to share your pain (not) lol.
I got a check in the mail yesterday. Anyone else?
Hundo and some change.
It was under a $100 !
